Those ring land ports are much bigger diameter (about doubble) from what mine are. Not that I've tryed all sizes or anything like that, who knows, bigger may be better.
Just so long as the lower land is in good shape to form a seal on the powerstroke.
I see what you mean about omitting the top ring because its a headland ring. It would be better if the secound ring where higher so the clearance volume would be less ---- er I think. Sometimes dyno results are different then you expected.
