I guess 11 may be right, about that many. Not an exact sience in that regard but don't put one to close to the end gap pin otherwise I would have had 12 ports.
That carbide I used has an 1/8th" shank and 1/16th" cutter diameter and is normally used to remove grout between ciramic tiles (found at home depot).
The technique in crafting problem is that the ring is about 1/16th" wide so be carefull not to hit the lower ring land that needs to seal during the power stroke. You nead to nibble the beginning of your cut then plunge the cutter in the full ring depth without having it jump out of your half circle or it could grab and cut the opposing ring land surface you want to keep nice. I hold the dremel tool real firm and I have never yet slipped and gouged the lower land. You dont need to go crazy deep and it will work just fine. It only takes me about 15 minutes to do up a piston.
