Re: Plug reading woes

Code Name: BLAST! (retrorider) — Jul 04, 2009 04:35PM

I haven't done any timing reading or temp readings. I don't have any of that equipment. I have the CDI on fully advanced. 19 PHBG, 70cc k-star, case matched, tecno boss pipe, super racing clutch, awesome filter. I can't get a clean read because if I want to use my bike to run errands, like I did yesterday, I have to rev the engine at stops and give it gas, which I am assuming accounts for a darker read on the plug. when I do tests on the flats with a brand new spark plug, I do not get black. I get light brown with a whitish tip on it. it only four stroked on me when I was running a 92, right now I have a 90 main jet, a 42 idle jet, and the stock 60 choke jet, needle is 7, clip is two from the top.

I bought a 86 main jet and some new plugs from Treats, but they were unexpectedly closed yesterday (patriotic Treats, who knew?). I am broke, but I guess I will get some more plugs at Kragen and try to work on it. I am running the 7 BHS because the 8 would just foul up. didn't occur to me that the 7 would make it run hotter. Maybe I should go back to the 8, since I did change the idle jet.
