Oh! The zener in the picture (of the BSA Bantam) is very likely originally for a Norton Commando (originally screwed to the right foot peg bracket). I successfully used one of those on a 750 Kawasaki triple (replacing a $100 regulator) to no ill effect. Technology moves on, the same (electrically) zener today is 1/2 the size, and is worth about $3.
