I agree with A-ko. I was scared to do that for a long time when I got my first bike, then I got a back up. I tore it apart, learned a ton almost immediately, and built some pretty legit shit shortly thereafter. If you are looking for an easy/cheapish solution, I have a hack n' welded techo boss and an angled-port xk top end with 650 actual miles on it. I could port it and sell you the pipe and top end. Basically, you'd only have to make some gaskets and take apart/put together the top end. Email me if you are interested.
