but really, that is the first step after getting your bike running as well as you can. just from that alone, you will begin to understand more about your bike.
my first maxi had a leaky bing, a shitty petcock, and didnt do much more than 30...but i loved the shit out of that bike and just rode it as it was for a looong time
one day i bought a 15mm dellorto w/intake, some jets, a new petcock, and a tecno boss...
really taught me a lot about what you have to do to get everything running perfect, and also what adds to your performance and so forth, after that i was doing about 35-38 on the flat
then of course...i got my first kit and so on.
what i'd advise, is tear that bike down, put it back together again, do it every once in a while. i do it all the time, but usually because im swapping frames. its a good experience and once it goes from "whats missing...where does this go" to a total routine, thats when you know youre ready for whatever.
