Re: Motobecane builds, post your mods!
AV10 is great but unless you are trying to brake land speed records, the parma AV7 is a solid build. I love this kit as long as it is paired with a phbg or similar, an sha will not hack it. I have the parma, stock ported case, the non enduro doppler crank, ER3 variator, ninja G3, and malossi cdi and I am hitting 55+ all day long and getting there quick. I haven't even played with timing the CDI or jetting that much. I have a stock head milled down 1.5mm. I am sure Elliot would own me at any speed but for an AV7 it is a blast, and easy to work your way up to. If budget is a concern, get the cheaper doppler crank, the kit, and a carb. Then upgrade your variator, cdi, etc.
Parma made AV7's fast! Thanks! Ooh and it is reliable too. No reeds, 2 big fat rings...
Finny: As for the doppler cranks, I have run both, and love both. You talk a lot about how much lighter the non enduro crank is, but do you have any numbers to back this up? They both seemed to weigh about the same to me. I could be totally wrong but I didn't notice much of a weight difference.
