Re: Plug Color + Temp Update
I put the #50 jet into the carb and performance went back down. It was boggy. I opened up one more hole in the air filter, bringing it back to the way it came: with three holes.
Performance is great again. Right back up to 31mph. Plug just barely started to color, finally, on one side. Unfortunately I don't have time to try out the #52. Maybe tomorrow.
It seems like the bike either: a. runs very poorly b. runs like it did with the stock exhaust, or c. runs extremely well. There's no in between b and c. The pipe has to be better than stock, so I don't accept that a proper ratio will yield no performance gain. But when the ratio has it running really well, a plug chop suggests it's running too hot.
Perhaps I'm expecting too much clear evidence from a plug chop. I haven't siezed yet. Hopefully I'm not doing any damage to my cylinder, which is the only reason I'm obsessing over this in the first place.
I suspect that when I put the #52 jet in, it will bog down until I open another hole in my airbox. And when I do that, again performance will be back up to 31mph top speeds, and my plug will not be coloring. Viscious, viscious circles.
