The chain may be broken with the remains binding on the rear sprocket. It's underneath the long swing arm cover that the kick start sticks out of. another possibility is that the brake shoe linings have separated from the brake shoes and are jammed between the shoes and hub. Those are the first things I'd check for, aside from the brake cable being too tight.
