Performance exhaust... how's it work?
I just received and installed the BiTurbo I got from Chris @ MWH. I have to say, I'm beyond impressed with it. Yesterday, I would struggle to go 32-33 Tmph (Tomos Miles Per Hour)... today on my first test run, I could hit 40 with ease on the flat and I can cruise nicely at 35+ which is exaclty what I wanted. I may not even bother with the 27 tooth sprocket I got at the same time... the mean new sound is just an added bonus...
Anyway, I'm a reasonably intelligent person but I cannot figure out how these things work. Presumably it's all about back pressure, no (I can't imagine any other impact the exhaust system can have)? Does the shape of the expansion chamber provide different amounts of back pressure at different RPMs to give more top end power? Am I on the right track? Does more or less pressure up the power and how does it do it?
I know there are a lot of gear heads here... someone must know what's going on ....
