Moped Army

greeting folks! long time lurker, new member, and i have a question I've been unable to find an answer to on here... what qualifies as a moped?

I've always thought if it was tagged as a moped it was a moped, but with all the squabble over pedals or pegs, new or old, 2 stroke or 4, u-frame or top tank, I'm totally confused. Before i was married, i rode my yamaha sport 50 everywhere, over 60 miles a day for 3 years.
now that I've moved back to old gotham, Im looking at getting a cafe styled 50cc 4 stroke 5 speed, with pegs no pedals, and id love to hook up with some people to ride with, but im not sure if it'll qualify...
