Moped Army

...it seems like a lot of truths and wisdom spread around the moped community is based on folklore, superstition and anecdotal evidence. Would you agree?

I say this because it reminds me a lot of working at bike shops where people would either swear by something or completely disavow it saying "I knew this one guy who..." to either support or deny their claim.

As an example, does 2 stroke oil even matter that much? These engines are one step up the evolutionary rung from a lawnmower... I feel like anything better than chainsaw oil should work about the same, but yet there seems to be strong feelings in both directions for all the various brands of high $$$ synthetics.

Not trying to start a flame war, but just curious how people get their information, and how they gauge its accuracy...
