Moped Army

i have a puch maxi newport II. i took off the bolt on the bottom to drain what i thought was the transmision fluid. but what came out was about 3-4 ounces of brown black liquid! so i took the plug out of the top of the crankcase and put trans fluid into it. the Manuel sais that it can only hold 9.5 ounces of trans fluid right? well i put a hole quart of the stuff in the plug and it never overflowd! i too the bold off off the bottom and trans fluid started coming out of it! what was the liquid that came out in the first palce? i found out there is a screw on the right half of the crankcase with a red seal around it. i took it out and trans fluid came out of it! help!!!
