Re: Cedar rapids/Iowa city
Come hit up IC! Sorry I came into this post late, but here's what I know.
If you don't have a VIN get a salvage permit, then you can get a title. To get salvage permit just have a name with an address of a person who you "bought" it from. When you bring in the address info, they will check out your ped and maybe send a letter to the address. (Usually if you don't have the VIN). Then you can get a title. When you get the title be sure to list the value, or amount you "bought" it for as the smallest conceivable price. That way you don't have to may much for taxes.
In Iowa City there are some (no offense to anyone here) douchey college kids who have scooters, or other new $5000 pieces of crap, BUT there are also people who are rocking some really nice retro peds. There's even a really cool vintage Peugeot parked downtown right now.
(A Scooter, I know, but still... Also, I'm a college kid too. No offense to anyone, except maybe the athletes who get their scooters for free from the University, lol)
I think the moped movement could really take off here, people just need some examples. So, If anyone wants to get a group together for a ride and maybe end up at the Deadwood or something let me know.
