Re: Peter's motobecane engine mounts
I happened to discover the same solution using exactly the same bushings, installation was a little different though.
Had always been leary of removing the bushings from the frame (cuz I don't have the fancy NOS puller) so I "cored" out the old rubber using a HFT hole saw withe pilot drill removed then scraped the inner sleeve clean. Loosely install the urethane bushings in the metal shell (still in the frame) and with a big ass c-clamp, press the inner sleeve into the urethane bushing. As the bushing expands it will snug itself inside the shell in the frame. Did this mod about 6 mos ago on my daily rider ('77 50V) and haven't had an engine mount related problem since (I do about 100-125 miles a week).
I tried machining my own, skateboard truck rubbers (worked ok & were readily available) but the urethane sway bar bushings kill 'em all.
It's a bitchin' solution to a nightmare design flaw. Good job Peter.
