Slipping Clutch Fix

Masa Toiya (masat) — Jan 31, 2004 01:48PM

Hey I just found out why I had to pedal like hell trying to start my Jawa recently. Clutch was not engaging low pedalling speed. I had a leaky petcock for a while and somehow gas/oil mixture got into the clutch assembly, which is right under the petcock. So the 2 stroke oil was lubricating the clutch, making it slip.

If you have slipping clutch you might want to try degreasing the clutch. Since it's so cold out I didn't want to use water based cleaner. Instead I used electrical contact cleaner spray from auto parts store. It washes off grease and evaporates quickly.
