i dont think thats right. a stock ford cylinder coil is about 30-35k volts. the msd is 45k. no timing box is needed as its not an e.c.i. unit, its the old cylinder style, it is meant as a replacement for pre 80s v8s. this type is plug and play. its electrical draw is straight from the battery (12v). i doubt that at idle it will make much of a differance, but at optimal running rpms should make quite a differance. the trick i think will be finding the middle ground plug gap. like i said before, 12v is 12v, if its 12v at the lights, it MUST be 12v at the ignition too, as there is no designated internals for ignition and accessories. am i wrong? the only thing i worry about is low rpm voltage not being enough to throw flame through an msd.
either way im going to try this tomorrow. ill report on what i found. hopefully it will start a revolution.
