What is your goal? If you find that your variator is “shifting” too early for your powerband, then you want lighter weights. This will cause the variator to “shift” at a higher RPM than stock.
If you want a higher top speed, then modify the variator as discussed in other threads/websites (adding notches to increase movable drive face travel.
Or, do both.
