50cc tccd kit cautions

I bought a 50cc tccd kit, a high compression head, and some jets from treats for my daughter’s 1.5 hp Puch Maxi. Before I button my install up, I want to be sure I’m not screwing up. I have the piston arrow pointing down toward the exhaust port 1. I hear that there is a “problem” with cylinder base gaskets. I put only one on, and the piston clears the head without a head gasket, therefore I assume I can leave the head gasket off. 2. There is a rectangular slot in the piston about the same size as the intake slot on the cylinder, however, this slot is barely visible with two base gaskets on, and not visible at all with one. What is the purpose of this slot? 3. With either one or two base gaskets on, the piston ring clears the exhaust port.
