Ok…the word on the 96 jet and needle all the way down.
Pretty good….but not excellent. I’m wondering if it’s something else because when I first did it on a cold start, the boke TORE off the line and accelerated right up. F-A-S-T!
So, shit, I said…that’s good. Did a JV plug chop, looked fine and went for about a 15 mile ride.
So…as the engine warms, and clutch gets hot and all, the off the line power goes away. In fact…if I ride this thing and coast to a red light, keeping the drive clutch engaged and then have to accelerate from, oh, 5mph….I’m DEAD in the water. I might as well push it. But if I let the clutch wind down and can start fresh by revving it, then it’s okay. Not nearly as good as the cold start but does fine.
The mid and top end are FANTASTIC. This is without a doubt a mid to upper 40’s kit, possibly 50. My throttle assembly is too short right now so the throttle only opens about 4/5’s of the way. Good for breaking in…I won’t be tempted. Bad for off the line because I can’t lean on the throttle to really get that bitch to go.
All in all it’s a nice smooth running kit. Lots of power to be had…and if I had smaller tires, or reeds, definitely a Polini killer.
Highly recommended.
