Ok here is the deal with the higher octane. it is the percentage of octane in the gasoline when compared with the other tanes. It has a chain of 8 tane molecules. There are also chains of 6 and 7. The chains of six and seven ignite when put under pressure. octane does not do this. That is why you can’t run kerosene in your gasoline powered car becuase it will explode to soon leading to lack of power and broken rods and shafts. Kerosene is only what like 23 octane. Most small engined vehicles that are not performance can run on the lower stuff. No point in putting it in just a waste of money. But say for a suped up muscle car or a race car or race anything should be ran on higher octane to prevent miss firing.
