Breakin in peugot103 70cc

I have a cast irom polini 70cc.
hi-comp malossi head
832 miles on bottom end.
the polished poilini intake
carbon fiber feeds
dellorto 16:16

doppler variator-with that light clutch bell-

and that blue dual exhaust from treats. The 35 dollar one.

I was looking around in my jet boxes and I have an 86 and 88 jet I can use to break it in and go slow.

I looked at the performance spreadsheet and most used an 82 so would these be good.??

I was gonna run the mix with Amsoil dominator at 32:1 just to be sure with my 100ll AVGas.
It usually is 50:1.

It will be assemlbled and mounted by like 1 p.m., est, I’ll check back here for:
—oil mix ratio
—jet size for break in
—maybe plug gap too.

My first peugot engine.

It goes on a very clean Batavus Mondial 1980.

Thanks.

Where was that awesome post about the break in procudure, step -by-step, some guy wrote.

It was like 9 steps and covered up to like 500 miles or so.

That engine has the wrong crankshaft to run a variator, at least a Peugeot variator, unlike a Motobecane engine you can’t just bolt one on. The Batavus Mondials used a non variated Peugeot 103 engine with a crankshaft that has a shorter shaft on the pulley side, when those were used on a single speed Peugeot 103 they also used a different gear ratio at the rear end. The frame and mounts were pretty much the same on the single speed and variated versions of the 103 but I’m not sure how they were mounted on the Mondial but with a variator it has to pivot more then as a single speed.
I don’t know why you would need to run one of these on AV gas, nobody that I have seen running with a 70cc 103 engine ever mentioned needing it, it’s also illegal to use on the street since it contains lead. If you are breaking it in then you will need a heavier mix of oil to start with, preferably non synthetic, likely around 35 or 40:1 if not heavier, just to get everything seated.
With regards to the carburetor a 16mm sounds a little under sized even though it will work, a well ported 49.9 cc cylinder can use up to a 15mm if adjusted properly. To get the full potential out of a 70cc cylinder kit many are using carbs that are between 18 and 21mm for a venturi diameter.

This setup is just to get it started so it can be a reliable backup later.
This is my first peugot motor.

This engine variates, and that doppler piece is correct.

I found an 81 and an 88 jet in my little botttle.

Gonna start with the 88 and see if I need to order an 85 84 83 or 82.

I run all my peds on AVGas because I have 12 and I don’t want my gas to go bad. Some sit for like 3 months before there are ridden. I buy 18.5 gallons at a time.

AVGas does not go bad, it sits in wings of airplanes for seasons, and besides it is Low Lead content and the state of CT treats mopeds like bicycles and cops do not even look or care, they just pay mind to stupid scooters. Even though both do not need reg or ins. if under 5hp.
Besides,I like the AVGas because it makes the garage smell neutral and not like a lawnmower.

The 16mm del is just for now and to break it in, I am getting ready to finish my moby project and that has a 19phgb that I will learn to tweak before I start buying them for every bike that has a 70cc in my lot.

I’m still working that third port because I had to clean up the mess of tools because I just got a new toolbox, and I am relieved to be organized once again.

Re: Breakin in peugot103 70cc

In two days I will know, It looks awesome, 7 ports in the cylinder with 3 tranfer ports from the case so I had to make the third.

Girlfriend makes me come in early so I can’t finish.

I will use new allen bolt on my intake with washers, I think studs and bolts are stupid there because it makes the surface hard to clean.

I’ll try 32:1. with the 88 jet at first.

I love high octane gas I picked up about 4 mph on my big port metra running 100 octane, also mopeds were designed to run on leaded gas you think back in the seventies gas was 89 octane, nope!

Yeah, 4 of mine have hi-comp heads, they smell great and I leave pre-mix in cans for months.

My port work keeps gettting push back. AAARRRGGGHHH.

I live 1 mile from a small airport where I buy the gas in bulk.

Back in the day was regular or unleaded, i remember.

Big nozzle-little nozzle.
