the bike is capable of a nice smooth very low RPM, reliable idle .. partly due to the reed-valve induction which prevents “4-stroking” hiccups at low rpm.
but setting idle is the LAST thing in the tune-up and engine restoration proceedure.. it’s not gonna happen until everything else is in proper order.. ignition timing, air (vacuum) or fuel leakage, free fuel flow and fuel system cleanliness (especially the carburetor).. air intake box and filter..
and you need good compression.. check head bolt torque, cylinder base gasket sealing, head gasket, decompresion valve sealing. Check for and remove carbon buildup.
The muffler has a baffle-tube cleanout bolt under the right side heat shield..
The list goes on and on. Get the Shop and Owner’s Manuals “on THIS page:http://www.mopedriders.org/article_cat.php?fldAuto=2.

It’s a fine bike, imo, and a new aquisition deserves a thorough preliminary, sytstematic going-over and tuneup from one end to the other.
