ok i am a moron. i forgot which ring was the top and which was the bottom ring. i had them stacked a certain way and now ive lost track. since they’ve already been seated i dont want to mix them up.
this is for a QT50.
the two rings seem to have different letters stamped in the top of them. looking from the top down, one says 1N on the right side of the ring gap. the other says R on the right side of the ring gap, and 25 on the left. now i know its a .25 over piston so that explains the 25. but do the 1N and R signify top and bottom rings in any way? manual makes no mention of any marks.
also: one ring definitely has more edge wear than the other ring. its not worn out, but you can just see its worn more if you hold both together and look at it in the light. it also seems to have more carbon on it than the other one. it would make sense to me that the more worn ring with more carbon is the top ring.
anybody agree? is there any way to tell which is which?
