Carburetor catastrophic failure

I’m running a Mikuni 18mm on a custom intake. Today on a test ride, the clamp section of the carb sheared away and the carb ejected. The weight of the air filter may have been a contributing factor as was the hard mounting method.ie no section of rubber hose. So I’m thinking that the only way to salvage this carb is to insert a piece of aluminum tubing and braze it to the carb w/ aluminum brazing rod. Then use the section of rubber hose and requisite two hose clamps. Anyone gone down this road before?
