Are there supposed to be Springs in the front fork of a 1979 Yamaha chappy LB80?

I have a 1979 Yamaha Chappy. The Right front fork is blown. I have the manual and I have the replacement gaskets. When I disassembled the fork there were no springs inside, which did not match the manuals discription. So Since I could not find springs for the front forks online, I purchased new used forks from Ebay! The forks I purchased from Ebay were claimed to be in perfect condition. Yep the left front fork was but the right was also blown. I wanted to strangle the guy that sold them to me but I figured I would disassemble the fork and take out the springs. There were no springs inside that right front fork. Are there supposed to be springs in the right front fork of a 1979 Yamaha Chappy?
