I have a 78 moto guzzi robin that recently started smoking out the exhaust (more than normal) and dying after the choke is off and throttle opened. Here’s the low-down:

-starts fine and idles with the choke on fine
-idles fine with choke off after short warm up
-dies with any throttle after the choke is off
-I did get it run today after idling for about 15 min and a couple of rigorous twists of the throttle, but several previous attempts to get it running were the same…start-up, choke off and died with gas.

I recently started using Motul esther based oil (3 oz per gallon) and it occured to me this might be too rich, but I wouldn’t think that would suffocate the motor like this.

I’ve also had some problems recently with fouled fuel, but it ran great with some sea-foam in the tank so I think that’s solved.

A friend thought maybe the carb needs a cleaning and is gukked up…anyone agree?

Also, does anyone know where I can get a replacement headlight…the lo beam works, but the normal setting is dead.
