1980 Batavus Starflight weird

Hello,
I’m a total newb. I just picked up a Batavus Starflite and the clutch cable is disconnected, and there is a nail jammed in the clutch or variator or whatever the spinning thing is on the left side of the bike. I guess the nail keeps it from spinning. The bike runs while moving, but will not hold idle when stopped. Any suggestions? Should I pull the nail? Any help with resources on this bike would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
magma
