Hello MopedArmy,
My name is Grayson and I have been problems with my Vespa Grande. The back wheel is leaking oil. It started when I opened the wheel up to clean out the oil and since the gasket was old, re-opening it must have broken the seal. I have now replaced the gasket, but it is still leaking and this time it does not seem to be leaking from the gasket. I can not figure where it is leaking from, since it only leaks while it is running and there are many metal pieces in the way from me seeing where the oil is coming from when it’s all put together. All I can see is that it is coming from the front, left hand side of the wheel (the side it connects to the motor). Right now the wheel is off my moped, though I will be using it this week for getting back and forth from school. If you guys could give me some idea on how to fix this or how to figure out what’s wrong with my wheel it would be great. Also when I run the Vespa I get a high pitched rearing sound coming from the back wheel, I thought it was just because the oil leaked out and the gears were grinding a little bit, but when I put in new oil (and since it’s a slow leak) it still is making that sound.
