Removing rings

This is a QT50 engine. The piston (rings actually) were stuck in the bore. I got it disassembled, and the piston is soaking in a jar of ‘juices’ to try to remove some of the carbon and free the rings.

The rings are mashed into the lands pretty good, I can see the ends, but there it NO gap.

How can I get the rings off without damaging the piston?
