Peugeots really like to not work when you don’t ground them well, they will also have erratic spark when this happens. Did you reconnect the black wire back to the case of the coil? Condensers tend to be all or nothing spark wise and usually only are spotty when they’re hot. Also check your points silver = good, brown = not so good that is a huge generalization but you get the point.
