CVT on hobbit seems to have copped an attitude.

Ok, so I bought this hobbit and this qt50 off this fat dude out in the sticks for a song. Both were non-running, but within 48 hours had them both running again. Problem is, even though the hobbit wasn’t running so much as briskly walking, and at times only casually meandering. So I did all the things the experts here told me to, clean the carb, bbq the pipe, clean the air filter etc. So know it does about 23, which still aint good. Thing is, sometimes it will only do about 17-18, until for some reason, it feels like in a car when the clutch stops slipping, and the car goes as it should. I’m assuming this is a variator thing, but I could be wrong. Sometimes I can actually feel a little extry g force kind of hold my body back as the variator catches. So what I’m trying to ask is, wht else could be contributing to my lack luster performance, and is there some way to maybe tighten something on the variator so it will grip better. Thanks for your help.
