Ok, so I looked at everyones advice (thanks again) and went back at it today working on the ped.
I took the carb off and cleaned it, specifically going after the piece that the fuel line connects to. I forgot to clean that part before (thanks linda).
I also took off the exhaust pipe (and muffler) and cleaned the exhaust hole in the head. Well I cleaned it up a bit at least. Put it all back together and….
The engine won’t start up! At first I suspected it was something I did to the carb. I opened it up and aligned that fuel input piece correctly, I attached the fuel line to it with the bowl off and saw that fuel was getting into the carb. So the problem isnt there.
Then I made sure the fuel line hose wasn’t getting pinched. Nice.
Then I took out the spark plug… it had sorta wet black. I assume that means I have too much oil in my mix (running 32:1). I cleaned off that wet black gunk, sprayed ether/engine starter into the cylinder and let er rip. I got the humble beginnings of an engine starting but then it dies. It seems like it dies when the ether gets used up. My hypothesis? The fuel isn’t getting into the chamber. But if there is fuel in the bowl… and the jet and all of that is clean… whats wrong?
Thanks
