some people say they are fussy if they arent totally clean, but i’ve NEVER cleaned the one on my daily rider (‘82 express) and it’s just been running better and better. ive never looked into new carbs for them, but if you think it needs replacement, im sure you can find a freshly-cleaned old stock one for pretty cheap. in fact, i think i have one (sans float bowl) sitting in the back of my truck right now.
