Hah, yes… it’s to prevent the nut from backing off during high RPM’s…
You need to use a chisel or screwdriver to bend it down (you may need to use a hammer on the screwdriver LIGHTLY). Then once you get it flat enough you’ll be able to spin it right off. I think it’s either a 17mm or 19mm.
