If you are running a carb without gaskets None of this is going to help. Air is going to find a way in and will mess with everything. make your gaskets, install them and then talk to us.

attached is a post of points on an NC50 Honda. Yours unfortunately have to be adjusted through the tiny flywheel slot. but maybe this pic will help.
