No oomph!

So I have another thread but its getting pretty long by now. Thanks to smoking bear for all of his help.

So here’s the situation. I got this bike (1978 puch newport) together and on its stand it runs pretty well. The carb is clean. When I turn the throttle it doesn’t really register very well. Ill turn it a bit and it’ll go faster, but a bit more and then it will either go slower or want to stop. But sometimes it’ll want to go faster like it should… a bit weird.

Then today I got tires. When I put the bike on the ground, it has no power. The bike wont push me forward at all. If I help it, its ok with that. But If I pull the throttle to full it will certainly die.

Is it the points? Is it Fuel in the engine? I’m running 32:1. The carb is clean… do I need more air? Less air? I twisted the minor adjustment screw… nothing really happened. Is something leaking? I tightened the head bolts and I’m about to replace the carb gaskets.

What’s wrong? Why won’t this bike push me?
