For the brakes, you can adjust the tension on them with little … hollow bolt with nut adjuster thing. If that doesn’t help, you can use some steel wool or something slightly abrasive on your brake pads when you take the wheels off to re-rubber them. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can also try this.
I haven’t tried it, but I trust Deezy when he says it works.
If you’ve only got a little rust in the tank, probably a fuel filter is the easiest solution. If you really want to get rid of it, Evapo-Rust has gotten mostly rave reviews, or you can break out the big guns and get some phosphoric acid or muriatic acid.
You should definitely find a way to show the guy who sold them to you how wrong he was. I’m sure the look on his face would be priceless if he saw you riding one of them around.
