Nice advice there james, I’m going to need to get my hands on a powerdrill, I’ve said to myself “If i had a powerdrill this would be so easy…..” so many times that I think it merits the purchase of one by now.
Linda, I cant imagine it will hold the rust off, knowing the nature of rust. BUT if you are a good bike owner I think it should stay away. Leaving it outside during a snowstorm is one situation where rust could come back. And I doubt anyone on this website would do that to their poor, poor restored moped.
With that said, I was looking through my collection of spray paint cans last night (looking for a chrome spray… Some rust spots were small and unrepairable…eaten away) . Anyway I found some ‘never rust’ compounds. Apparently you spray it on metal and it prevents it from rusting. I’m assuming its some sort of spray on wax layer (only probably not wax). Any idea if this stuff works or if its even a good idea?
Oh, and linda, I like that thread you posted with the pictures of you removing your engine head. good luck with that.
