That’s a great idea! I’ll have to try that at some point. I guess this is a stupid question to ask since you only just did it, but any idea how well this prevents rust from recurring?

I concur as well. Carb cleaner is my favorite chemical, hands down. However, citrus degreaser stuff (I have Zep) is pretty useful too, specially for soaking down the greasy areas.
