Safari Mt400/Minarelli V-1 HELP

When I got this moped it was a rust machine! Things really haven’t changed but I did get a new Minarelli v1 cylinder, piston/rings, gaskets, carb gakets, sealed the tank…..

I got it to start up and run when the choke is on and its at idle… When I give it gas at idle with the choke on the moped stalls….When I take the choke off the moped shuts off….

I have messed with the carb idle sscrew… I have cleaned the carb a couple of times just to make sure I got everything, I even played with the points a little.. I cannot figure out the deal with this thing.. I took out the plug and checked that.. the electrode should be a gray,tanish,white… but it is black.. leading me to believe its getting too much fuel or running rich… like I said I played with the idle screw and when I let off to much the moped shuts off once again.. HELLLPP
