i have a roll of “fel-pro karropak sheet” 1/32 thick that i use for that , it seems to work ok. i believe it’s paper.
a 12×36 roll is like $5 so you have plenty to get good at it.
a good sharp x-acto knife does the trick.

in the wiki… search “gasket”...it’ll tell you how to lay one out if you don’t have the old one to trace.

personally i don’t use any gasket gunk, goo or any other stuff to help the seal…just the gasket.

in the bottom of the float bowl there is a lil hole that the bottom pin of the float sits in…if that hole (and the rest of the bowl for that matter) isn’t clean the float can hang up and get stuck from time to time or all the time.
