The gaskets do not need gasket goo. If you have torn the cylinder base gasket then some goo might be needed there.

You only know if it needs rings by doing a compression test.

Also, you can remove the rings from the piston (carefully) and check them in a good part of the bore.
The factory standard for ring wear as measured by ring gap is: .006-.014inch the max limit is: .0236in.
