ciao soft seize

Well one of my mopeds ran a whole 4 months before destroying a piston so I can’t really complain, (a huuuuge record for me) but it appears I just had a soft seize. I was riding full throttle for maybe three minutes and got it going about 33, then I felt a slight resistance and the engine pitch changed, then again. I killed the engine and coasted to the side of the road and pushed it home. The pedals still turn and the engine sputters but won’t start.

I am not at all mechanically inclined but I’ve taken apart my Puch engine. I’ve never worked on a vespa before. Does the head come off like a puch? Can I get a stock piston and cylinder somewhere? I definitely do not want to mess with a kit. I have had nothing but trouble with those.

Man, I am incredibly bummed but not the least surprised. Looks like another summer with a broken moped.
