new piston rings dont work

so after the second gear broke on my tomos with only 500 miles on it i replaced it. i took off the cylinder base to see how it looked and it was fine but i broke a ring trying to get it back on o orderd a new one i used a little oil to get it on this time but accidently used motor oil instead of 2 stroke. put all of it back together but now not getting compression that i should have “can turn it over with my hand” and wont start. is it because i used the motor oil? or somthing wrong with rings? i get a spark and fuel thanks for the help
