Rusted through crack in gas tank

getting a new tank isnt an option, so my only other option is to fix this hole. it was rusted through near the petcock. looks like the metal weakened and bent from sitting on something and it flaked right through.. there isnt a hole yet, but i could probably punch through it and make one..

anyone know a way to fix something like that? the overall tank is pretty rusty.. was thinking muriatic / water in the tank for a half an hour, rinsing it, and then kreem? or por? but do those seal over cracks? or if i bondo the outside of the tank, will that seal it back up?
