Hi Dylan,
A couple of questions; does the bike run the same with or without the air cleaner assembly? When you got the bike running, did you do a complete carb teardown and cleaning? The main jet and also the second smaller jet behind the main jet need to be removed and thoroughly cleaned, or the engine will act as you describe. I would also check and make sure the choke cable is working correctly and not binding when applied. Good luck! – David
