That guy is full of it. take the bulb out of your headlight and compare it to the pics on some of the moped shop sites. Get a universal brake cable with a knarp for the wheel end. Those should all be easy fixes, sounds like you got a great bike.

And get used to parts people looking at you like you’re crazy, it’s one of the joys of owning a moped.
