Well,
actually the top of the can was already missing when I begin working on the bike. I couldn’t find it in the garage. :)
I cleaned nicely the interior of the rest of the can (the part that is connected to the pipe) and also I cleaned the pipe inside from the can side, but only for a short length, since I can not get deep enough from that side.
Now, I will clean from the engine side with a frayed cable.
While talking about the missing can top, I cut round piece of thin metal plate with the dimension to cover the can. Drilled a hole for the attaching screw to pass and three more closely placed holes on the lower left side of the plate each with dimensions od 8mm, for the exhaust fumes. I filled the interior of the can with a metal sponge (not to much, don’t want to suffocate the exhaust) and that’s it.
It makes a quite a noise while driving. Since Solexes are rarity here, imagine people faces when they see me with such a bike on the street making that noise. :)
I planned to do the same with the condenser, as you suggested. I’ll buy one by your specification and put it in the can of the old. I probably have to take out the rotor (flywheel) to do that, or maybe I can sneak it through the holes on the rotor?
Thanks
