Is a pa50 II suposed to have a battery?

I was reading some post and some guy mentioned “old hondas will run without a battery but not well” If I am supposed to have a battery on this piece, which I don’t see any wires for one, that might explain a few things, such as the headlight giving about as much illumination as a cell phone screen.
